Does Saily eSIM work in Switzerland?
Yes. Saily eSIM works very well in Switzerland. I tested it on-ground in the St. Gallen / Lake Constance region on May 23, 2026, with my Swiss SIM data deactivated, running Saily as my sole data connection on an iPhone 15 Pro. The result: 271–370 Mbps download on Salt 5G, 0% packet loss, idle ping of 36–39 ms.
I've lived in Switzerland for over 30 years. I know exactly what this country's mobile network looks like at its best — and Saily holds up.
Who is this review from?
I'm Nico Dudli, a Swiss digital transformation consultant and tech author based in St. Gallen, Switzerland. I've tested Saily across 12 countries in Europe and Asia and compared it directly against Airalo. Switzerland is my home — this is the one review where I can judge Saily against a baseline I know inside out.
Test method: Swiss SIM data off → Saily eSIM only → multiple speed tests across different locations and days.

What network does Saily use in Switzerland?
Saily automatically connects to the strongest available network at your location in Switzerland — Swisscom, Salt, or Sunrise. In my tests I connected to Salt (St. Gallen / Lake Constance) and Sunrise (Appenzell / Alpstein) — Swisscom is also part of the network but was not selected during my test sessions. In other regions you may connect to Swisscom instead. This multi-network access is a key advantage over providers that lock you to a single operator.
Is the Swiss network good for travelers? Yes. Switzerland's mobile network is among the best in the world — and Saily gives you access to all three major operators (Swisscom, Salt, Sunrise) depending on your location.
As someone who has lived in Switzerland for 30 years: the country's mobile infrastructure is genuinely world-class. You get signal on the Jungfraujoch at 3,454 m. You get signal on the Piz Beverin. The only minor instability I've personally noticed in three decades is at the Kreuzlingen/Konstanz border crossing, where Swiss and German networks occasionally compete. For a typical US tourist itinerary in Switzerland, coverage will not be a limitation.

All tests publicly verifiable at speedtest.net via Test ID. Test location for Tests 3–6: Bogartenlücke, Alpstein (Appenzell Innerrhoden), approx. 1,500 m altitude. Speedtest server was the nearest available node (Gais / Buchs) — not the physical test location.
Note on Test 6 (Alpstein — Bogartenlücke, 5G, 09:37): Packet loss of 100.36% indicates a complete signal dropout — recorded at the start of the ascent, before a stable 5G connection was established. This is typical behaviour in Alpine terrain during network transitions. By 09:40 (Test 5), the same 5G network delivered 65.25 Mbps with only 0.36% packet loss.
What do these speeds mean for travelers from the US?

Is Saily expensive for Switzerland? No. From a local perspective, Saily is affordable. The SBB (Swiss Federal Railways) occasionally offers slightly cheaper data options — but setup is more complex, and you lose the global reusability. A Saily eSIM installed once works across 200+ countries. That simplicity and the clean Saily app are worth the small difference for most travelers.
How to activate Saily eSIM in Switzerland
Activation is simple and takes under 5 minutes:
On iPhone:

Install the eSIM via QR code or direct install (iOS 17+)
Travel to Switzerland — the eSIM activates automatically on arrival
Done — connects instantly to Swisscom, Salt, or Sunrise 5G
→ Full step-by-step guide: How to set up Saily eSIM on iPhone
On Android:
Download the Saily app and buy your Switzerland plan
Install the eSIM via QR code in your device settings
Travel to Switzerland — activate manually if needed
Done — connects instantly to Swisscom, Salt, or Sunrise 5G

Important for US travelers: None of the Swiss carriers (Swisscom, Salt, Sunrise) sell tourist eSIMs on arrival in Switzerland as of 2026. Physical prepaid SIMs require ID registration in a store. This makes pre-ordering a Saily eSIM before you fly the most practical option for Switzerland specifically.
💡 Pro tip: Saily gives you a 30-day activation window. Buy today — the plan doesn't start until you first connect in Switzerland.
Saily vs Airalo vs Holafly for Switzerland (2026)
Provider | 10 GB / 30 days | Network | Unlimited? | Discount code |
|---|---|---|---|---|

Airalo | ~$23.00 | Sunrise | No | — |
Holafly | unlimited only | Swisscom/Salt/Sunrise | Only option | — |
Saily vs Airalo Switzerland: Nearly identical pricing for fixed data. Saily automatically selects from Swisscom, Salt, and Sunrise depending on your location — giving you broader coverage than Airalo, which runs on Sunrise only. Saily's app is slightly more polished and includes built-in web protection (it's made by the NordVPN team). Full comparison: Saily vs Airalo.
Saily vs Holafly Switzerland: Holafly offers unlimited data only, which suits heavy users on short trips. For a standard 1–2 week visit with normal usage, Saily's fixed plans typically work out cheaper.
