Saily eSIM Europe Review 2026: Tested in 7 Countries (incl. Switzerland & France)

Updated: 1 day ago

Quick Answer: Is Saily Good for Europe?

Yes. Based on my real-world tests across seven European countries, Saily is a strong eSIM option for city trips, multi-country travel and remote work.

It performed particularly well in Switzerland, France and Spain. The main limitation was not Saily itself, but inconsistent local mobile infrastructure in rural areas, parks and on some train routes.

How I Tested Saily in Europe

This review is based on my own use in seven European countries:

  • Switzerland

  • France

  • Spain

  • Portugal

  • Germany

  • Italy

  • Austria

I used Saily for:

  • Google Maps and navigation

  • WhatsApp and messaging

  • Google Meet and online teaching

  • mobile hotspot connections

  • content management and agency work

  • travel planning

  • booking trains, hotels and rides

  • uploading files and social media content

  • city travel, road trips and train journeys

My results describe specific devices, locations and test conditions. They do not guarantee identical speeds everywhere.

Mobile performance depends on:

  • the local partner network

Europe Regional Plan or Country Plan?

Saily offers two main options for European travel:

Country plan

Choose a country plan when visiting only one destination.

Examples include:

  • France

  • Spain

  • Switzerland

  • Germany

  • Portugal

  • Italy

Country plans are often less expensive than the Europe Regional Plan.

Europe Regional Plan

Choose the Europe Regional Plan when traveling through several covered countries.

It is useful for routes such as:

  • France, Italy and Switzerland

  • Spain and Portugal

  • Germany and Austria

  • United Kingdom, France and Italy

  • longer European rail trips

The regional package uses the same Saily eSIM profile as you cross borders, so you do not need to purchase and install a separate eSIM in each country.

Which Europe Plan Should You Choose?

1 GB

3 GB

5 GB

10 GB

Long trip or remote work

50 GB

Heavy streaming and daily video use

Unlimited

My default recommendation for most travelers is 10 GB for 30 days.

Choose 50 GB or Unlimited when you:

  • use your phone as a daily hotspot

  • upload large video files

  • join frequent video calls

  • stream video regularly

  • work remotely for several weeks

Unlimited Europe Plan: What Does Unlimited Mean?

Saily's Europe Unlimited plans provide 5 GB per day without a speed restriction.

After the daily allowance has been used, the connection continues at up to 1 Mbps until the next 24-hour cycle.

This remains suitable for:

  • messaging

  • maps

  • basic browsing

  • emails

  • lower-quality media

The reduced speed may not be sufficient for:

  • large uploads

  • HD streaming

  • intensive laptop work

  • high-quality video calls

Unlimited therefore does not mean unlimited maximum speed.

Switzerland: Fastest Speeds in My Tests

Switzerland delivered the highest measured speeds during my European testing.

In St. Gallen, I measured:

  • 271 to 370 Mbps download

  • 36 to 39 ms idle latency

  • 0% packet loss during the reported tests

Saily connected to Salt 5G in St. Gallen.

I also tested the connection:

  • around Lake Constance

  • in the Alpstein region

  • during a hike at approximately 1,500 metres

  • on urban and regional travel routes

During the mountain test, speeds ranged from approximately 34 to 65 Mbps on Sunrise LTE and 5G.

These results were strong, but they should not be interpreted as guaranteed nationwide performance.

Read the complete Saily Switzerland review for the full speed tests and coverage observations.

France: Remote-Work and Hotspot Test

I used Saily in Montpellier, Paris and Bordeaux.

During a café test in Montpellier, I measured:

  • 70.94 Mbps download

  • 35.61 Mbps upload

  • approximately 50 ms latency

I connected two laptops and two phones through the mobile hotspot while working.

The connection supported:

  • content management

  • website work

  • file uploads

  • Google Meet

  • general agency work

This made Saily a practical alternative to unpredictable public Wi-Fi.

Montpellier field test: Using Saily eSIM Ultra as a hotspot for two MacBooks and two smartphones. The connection reached 70.94 Mbps download and was suitable for remote work during this test.

Spain: Live Online Teaching Test

In Mallorca, including Port de Sóller, I used Saily while teaching an online class.

The session included:

  • video

  • audio

  • screen sharing

  • approximately 25 participants

The connection remained stable throughout the lesson.

This was one of my most demanding real-world tests because any interruption would have affected the class immediately.

Portugal: Reliable for Normal Travel

I used Saily in Portugal for navigation, messaging, travel planning and general browsing.

The connection was reliable in the locations I visited.

I did not conduct the same detailed speed and hotspot tests as in Switzerland or France, so I would not make a precise nationwide performance claim.

Italy: Good in Cities, More Variable Remotely

I tested Saily in locations including northern Italy, Modena and Elba.

The connection worked well in populated areas and tourist destinations.

Performance became less consistent in:

  • remote bays

  • rural locations

  • areas with fewer local mobile towers

This reflects the underlying mobile infrastructure rather than a problem unique to Saily.

Austria: Reliable for Road Travel

I used Saily in Austria during road travel and navigation.

The connection was reliable along the routes I used.

As in other Alpine regions, valleys and remote areas can produce weaker coverage depending on the available local operator.

Germany: Strong Cities, Weak Infrastructure Gaps

Germany produced the most mixed results.

In central Munich, I measured:

  • 183 Mbps at Marienplatz

  • 181 Mbps in the city center

  • 98.2 Mbps during a later city test

  • 43.9 Mbps near Stachus

In the English Garden and near the Chinese Tower, speeds dropped significantly:

  • 23.6 Mbps

  • 15.3 Mbps

  • 6.94 Mbps

During an ICE journey between Hannover and Hamburg, Saily reached a peak of 54.6 Mbps, but connectivity still dropped in areas with weak local coverage.

The key lesson is simple: an eSIM cannot create mobile coverage where the underlying German network has a gap.

These results show why a provider should not be rated using one isolated speed test.

At the same location, performance can change substantially because of congestion, network routing and signal conditions.

Is Saily Suitable for Remote Work in Europe?

Yes, provided the local mobile network is strong enough and your plan includes sufficient data.

During my tests, Saily supported:

  • Google Meet

  • online teaching

  • website work

  • content management

  • file uploads

  • laptop hotspot connections

  • multiple connected devices

For occasional work, a 10 GB plan may be enough.

For daily remote work, consider:

  • 50 GB

  • Unlimited

  • a country-specific Unlimited plan

  • Saily Ultra

The correct choice depends on whether you stream, upload large files or spend several hours per day in video calls.

Hotspot Sharing

Saily allows hotspot sharing.

Data used by laptops and other connected devices is deducted from the selected package.

Before using Saily as your main work connection, check:

  • total data allowance

  • daily high-speed allowance

  • plan validity

  • local 4G and 5G coverage

  • automatic cloud backups

  • operating-system updates

  • video-call usage

Disable large automatic downloads to make the plan last longer.

Saily Security Features in Europe

Saily includes:

  • Ad Blocker

  • Web Protection

  • Virtual Location

These are app-level privacy and security features.

They can help:

  • block intrusive advertisements

  • reduce some unnecessary data use

  • warn against malicious websites

  • change your apparent browsing location

They do not automatically replace a complete VPN for every use case.

Saily's current website describes Ad Blocker, Web Protection and Virtual Location as built-in security features.

Keeping Your Normal Phone Number

Most Saily plans are data-only.

You can usually keep your normal SIM active for:

  • calls

  • SMS

  • your existing phone number

  • WhatsApp

  • iMessage

  • selected 2FA messages

Assign mobile data to Saily and disable data roaming for your normal SIM to reduce the risk of unexpected carrier charges.

Receiving calls or SMS through your home carrier may still generate charges depending on the carrier and plan.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Saily Good for Europe?

Yes. Based on my tests across seven countries, Saily performed well in cities, tourist areas and remote-work situations.

Performance was less predictable in rural Germany, parks, mountain valleys and other areas with weaker local infrastructure.

Does One Saily Plan Work Across Europe?

Yes. The Europe Regional Plan covers 35 destinations with one package.

A country plan may still be cheaper when visiting only one destination.

Which Saily Plan Is Best for Europe?

For most normal trips, 5 GB or 10 GB is sufficient.

Choose 50 GB or Unlimited for frequent video calls, heavy social media use and laptop hotspot work.

Is 10 GB Enough for Two Weeks in Europe?

Yes. During my tests in St. Gallen, Saily reached between 271 and 370 Mbps on Salt 5G.

I also tested connectivity in the Alpstein region.

Does Saily Work in France?

Yes. During a Montpellier café test, I measured 70.94 Mbps download and 35.61 Mbps upload.

The connection supported remote work and hotspot use.

Does Saily Work in Germany?

Yes, but local infrastructure varies.

I recorded strong speeds in central Munich and weaker performance in the English Garden, on some rail routes and in other areas with limited mobile coverage.

Does Saily Support Hotspot Sharing?

Yes. Saily supports hotspot sharing.

Connected devices use data from the selected package.

Is the Europe Unlimited Plan Truly Unlimited?

Data continues after the daily 5 GB high-speed allowance, but speeds can be reduced to up to 1 Mbps until the daily cycle resets.

What Is the Best Saily Discount Code for Europe?

Code TECHNOVICE gives 10% off eligible Saily Europe and country plans.

The code was verified on June 12, 2026.

Can I Keep My Normal Phone Number?

Yes. Most dual-SIM devices allow your normal SIM to remain active while Saily handles mobile data.

Check carrier charges for calls, SMS and roaming.

Final Verdict: Is Saily Worth It for Europe?

Yes. After testing Saily across seven European countries, I consider it a strong choice for most European holidays and remote-work trips.

Its biggest strengths are:

  • country and regional plan options

  • easy setup

  • hotspot support

  • reusable eSIM installation

  • good city performance

  • built-in privacy features

  • convenient top-ups

Its biggest limitation is dependence on local mobile infrastructure.

Saily worked very well in Switzerland, France and Spain. Germany showed that even a good eSIM cannot compensate for missing local coverage.

Choose:

  • a country plan for one destination

  • the Europe Regional Plan for several countries

  • 5 GB or 10 GB for normal travel

  • 50 GB or Unlimited for heavy use

  • Saily Ultra for frequent international travel
