#EuroSummer is Having a Moment — And Americans Need a Data Plan

If your TikTok feed looks anything like mine, it's full of Americans planning their Euro Summer 2026. I noticed the trend online — but last week it hit me in real life: I was in Lucerne, and the city was packed with American tourists. The #eurosummer aesthetic is no longer just a TikTok thing. It's actually happening.

But here's the thing nobody talks about in those aesthetic travel reels: data roaming will absolutely wreck your budget before you even order your first Aperol Spritz.

According to Google Flights data, Europe dominates US summer travel searches in 2026 — Dubrovnik, Palma de Mallorca, Stockholm, and Budapest are all trending. Millions of Americans are actually making the trip. And the moment they land and turn off Airplane Mode, their carrier starts charging $10/day.

That's where Saily comes in.

If you’re planning a trip to Europe, you’ve likely seen Saily. But does it actually work reliably across multiple countries? I put Saily to the test under real-world conditions—not in a lab, but while traveling, working remotely, and teaching live online classes across the continent.

Quick Answer: Is Saily Good for Europe?

👉 Yes — Saily is a top-tier eSIM for Europe in 2026, especially for city travel and "Power Users" who need reliable data for work.

  • Professional Grade: Handles Zoom, Google Meet, and heavy hotspots with ease.

  • Massive Savings: Costs ~90% less than US carrier roaming passes.

  • Seamless: One plan covers 35+ countries (France, Spain, Italy, etc.).

  • ⚠️ Note: Expect signal drops in rural Germany or deep mountain valleys.

Saily is the best choice for European city travel in 2026. It offers speeds up to 70 Mbps, saves $240+ compared to US roaming, and covers 35+ countries on one digital SIM.

Why US Travelers Should Switch to Saily

For travelers from the States, Saily is a "no-brainer." Carriers like AT&T and Verizon charge $10/day for international roaming—that’s $300 for a 30-day trip.

  • The Saily Advantage: A 10GB Europe plan costs $35.99 — or go country-specific from $15.99. You save over $240 per month.

  • Keep Your Number: Saily is 100% digital. Keep your US SIM active for iMessage and 2FA codes, and let Saily handle the high-speed data.

🇫🇷 Case Study: The Montpellier "Power User" Stress Test

To truly test Saily’s limits, I spent a month in Montpellier, France. As a Lecturer in Business Informatics, my requirements were extreme. I needed my iPhone to act as a permanent office hub for an entire month.

The Setup: I upgraded to Saily Ultra to power my professional workflow. I personally managed 4 simultaneous devices (2 MacBooks for dev work, 2 iPhones) in a crowded café in Montpellier. This setup had to handle:

  • 2 MacBooks: Daily web development and heavy CMS uploads.

  • 2 Smartphones: Constant syncing and 2FA authentication.

The "Café Edition" Results (De La Sierra Coffee Roasters):

  • 🚀 Download Speed: 70.94 Mbps

  • 📤 Upload Speed: 35.61 Mbps

  • ⏱️ Latency (Ping): 50 ms (Flawless for Video Calls)

Technology lecturer Nico Dudli testing Saily eSIM Ultra performance in a French café with a dual laptop hotspot setup. The screens show a verified speed test of 70 Mbps.
Testing the limits in Montpellier: Powering two MacBooks and two smartphones simultaneously via Saily eSIM Ultra. We achieved a stable 70.94 Mbps, proving it’s a reliable alternative to public Wi-Fi for power users.

The Verdict: If you are just a tourist, the standard 10GB plan is perfect. But if you are a Digital Nomad, Saily’s hotspot performance is a reliable alternative to shaky public Wi-Fi.

🇩🇪 Field Report: Saily in Munich (May 2026)

To back up Germany's ranking with real data, my girlfriend spent two days testing Saily across Munich — Marienplatz, Stachus, the English Garden, and the Hofgarten.

The network coverage map below (ArcGIS, updated May 30, 2026) explains the results before we even look at the numbers: Munich's 5G grid follows roads and buildings almost exclusively. The English Garden — one of the largest urban parks in the world — is a near-complete blank.

ArcGIS mobile network coverage map of Munich, May 2026. Purple lines show 5G coverage concentrated along roads and city center. Large green areas including the English Garden show no coverage.
Munich mobile network coverage, May 2026 (Source: ArcGIS, updated 30.05.2026). 5G signals follow roads and buildings — the English Garden and other parks are dead zones. No eSIM provider can fix missing infrastructure.

May 25 — Marienplatz (evening) Results were mixed right in the heart of the old town. At 19:44, speeds sat at 39.1 / 4.68 Mbps — usable, but unimpressive. Twenty minutes later at 19:59, the best result of the entire trip: 183 / 94.1 Mbps download/upload. Network load in the city center fluctuates heavily depending on crowd density and time of day.

182.74 Mbps on 5G at Marienplatz, Munich (25.05.2026, 19:59) — the best result of the entire Munich test. Same location, 15 minutes earlier: only 39 Mbps. Network load fluctuates heavily depending on crowd density and time of day.

May 26 — Stachus & city center (morning) The strongest numbers of the trip came before the crowds arrived: 181 Mbps download at 10:10, followed by 98.2 Mbps shortly after. When the infrastructure isn't overloaded, Munich's center performs well.

May 26 — English Garden, Chinese Tower (midday) This is where Saily — and every other carrier — hits a wall. Speeds collapsed to 15.3, then 23.6, then just 6.94 / 2.80 Mbps by 13:29. Practically no usable connection at one of the most visited spots in the entire city.

May 26 — Hofgarten Similar story: moments of stability interrupted by sudden drops. Sitting just next to the city center on a map, but behaving like a different country in terms of coverage.

Raw speedtest data from Munich, May 25–26, 2026. The drop from 183 Mbps in the city center to under 7 Mbps at the Chinese Tower is visible in a single scroll — no editing, no cherry-picking.

The verdict: Saily works in Munich — but reliably only where the infrastructure holds up. The problem isn't the eSIM provider. It's Germany. Parks, green spaces, and heavily visited outdoor areas suffer from coverage gaps that no eSIM can fix. If you're staying in the center and moving between buildings, you'll be fine. If you're planning a long afternoon in the English Garden and need a stable connection, don't count on it.
