What is Saily?

Saily is a digital SIM card (eSIM) for your smartphone. The big advantage: You no longer have to swap out a physical card. You simply install a profile via the app and you’re online as soon as you land.

I’ve now tested Saily in 12 countries—from Thailand to Portugal. ⭐ Trustpilot: 4.7/5 (25,637 reviews) · Built by Nord Security (NordVPN). Here, I’ll show you which plans are really worth it and where the hidden limitations lie.

Why Saily has changed the way I travel:
No kiosks, no SIM card swaps, no stress.
As soon as I arrive in my destination country, I’m online right away with Saily—that’s exactly what has helped me the most while traveling.

Ultra-fast 5G connection

In my tests across 12 countries, Saily was fast and reliable almost everywhere—whether in the city or at the beach.

5G/LTE available depending on network and device.

Easy installation

You can easily set it up using the app while you're still at home on the couch. Just scan or tap once, and the profile will be saved on your smartphone. --> Installation instructions

Active immediately after landing

As soon as you turn off Airplane Mode after landing, the eSIM will automatically connect to the best local network. You’ll have instant internet access for Maps, Uber, Grab, and more.

When Saily isn't the right choice

Saily is great for traveling, but there are situations where a traditional local SIM card or another option makes more sense. Here’s my honest take:

Long-term stays

If you're staying in the same country for more than two months, Saily usually becomes too expensive. In that case, it's worth checking with a local provider to sign up for a contract that can be canceled monthly or a prepaid plan.

Local phone number required

Saily's standard plans are data-only. If you need a real local number in your destination (e.g., for government agencies or bank accounts), a Saily data eSIM alone won't cover that — Saily's optional phone number add-on gives you calls and texts, but not a local number abroad.

Hardware compatibility

Your smartphone must be eSIM-compatible. Older models do not yet support this technology. Before you buy, check my guides to see if your device is compatible with Saily to avoid making a mistake.

Which Saily option is right for your trip?

Saily in Comparison: Airalo or Holafly?

First things first: There are many providers out there, but in a head-to-head comparison, Saily offers the best overall package. While Holafly often throttles hotspots and Airalo's installation can be cumbersome, Saily provides the most modern solution.
