Saily eSIM Problems (2026): Tested Fixes and Official Troubleshooting

Updated: Aug 6

Testing note: This troubleshooting guide combines my own Saily tests and support cases with current troubleshooting instructions from Saily's official Help Center. Where I describe a personal experience, an official requirement, or a recurring user report, I identify the source clearly.

Saily uses local partner networks rather than operating its own mobile network in each destination. As a result, connection quality depends not only on the eSIM profile but also on the selected data line, roaming settings, APN configuration, device compatibility, local coverage, and network availability.

If you are new to the technology, my eSIM explained guide shows how an eSIM profile works and why the local mobile network still determines the connection.

Based on my own Saily tests, support cases, and current official troubleshooting instructions, the following sections explain the most common symptoms and the safest fixes to try.

Problem 1: Saily eSIM not working after landing

A common symptom is that the phone shows signal bars but mobile data does not work.

The first step is to confirm that the Saily eSIM is enabled and selected as the mobile data line. On Android, Saily recommends opening the app and leaving it open for up to five minutes so that the APN can be configured automatically.

If the APN remains missing or the connection still fails, Saily's current troubleshooting instructions use wbdata in both the APN name and APN fields, with the remaining fields left blank.

Use the configuration shown in your Saily app or official setup instructions as the primary source, because APN requirements may change.

Data roaming. Saily connects through partner networks using international roaming agreements. If Data Roaming is disabled for the Saily line, the phone may show signal bars while mobile data remains unavailable. Enable Data Roaming for the Saily eSIM, but keep it disabled for your primary SIM unless your home plan includes roaming at your destination.

Special case: no data on a cruise ship. If you are aboard a ship and your Saily plan shows no service, roaming and APN are probably not the issue. Standard Saily plans connect to land-based networks, which are out of range at sea. Saily sells separate cruise plans for maritime networks — and even those only activate beyond 12 nautical miles from the coast, so in port they will not connect either.

Check your network settings: if the operator shows as 901-18, WMS or Cellular at Sea, you are on the ship's network. Full details in my Saily Cruise eSIM guide.

Problem 2: 5G icon but no usable mobile data

A 5G icon confirms that the phone has registered with a network, but it does not guarantee that mobile data is working correctly.

If pages or apps do not load, try the following steps in this order:

  1. Confirm that the Saily eSIM is selected for mobile data.

  2. Confirm that data roaming is enabled for the Saily line.

  3. Switch the preferred network mode from 5G to LTE or 4G.

  4. Turn airplane mode on, wait approximately 15 seconds, and turn it off again.

  5. Restart the phone.

  6. Check the APN configuration.

  7. If available, try selecting a supported network operator manually.

Saily's official Android and Pixel troubleshooting guidance includes switching from 5G to LTE or 4G, checking the APN, restarting the device, toggling airplane mode, and manually selecting a supported network when available.

Device- and destination-specific connection problems should be treated as individual troubleshooting cases rather than evidence that every Saily connection uses the same network priority or routing.

Problem 3: Understanding Saily's refund policy

Saily allows customers to request a full refund within the applicable refund period when the eSIM has not been installed or the data plan has not been activated.

Once a data plan has been activated, a full refund is no longer guaranteed. Saily may still consider a full or partial refund when more than 99% of the data remains unused or when the customer could not use the service because of a quality issue related to Saily.

Refund eligibility depends on the plan type, activation status, data usage, purchase date, and the circumstances of the case.

If the eSIM does not work:

  1. Stop unnecessary data usage.

  2. Take screenshots of the mobile data line, roaming settings, APN configuration, and any error messages.

  3. Record the Order ID and purchase date.

  4. Contact Saily support or submit the official refund request promptly.

Do not assume that store credit or a cash refund is guaranteed. Saily reviews refund requests individually under its current terms.

Saily troubleshooting table

Issue

First steps to try

Installation fails

Use a stable Wi-Fi connection and follow the manual installation details shown in the Saily app.

Signal bars but no data

Select Saily as the mobile data line, enable data roaming, and check the APN. On Android, keep the Saily app open for up to five minutes before entering wbdata manually.

Frequent disconnects

Disable mobile data switching, try LTE or 4G instead of 5G, toggle airplane mode, and restart the device.

No service on a cruise ship

Standard land plans do not connect to maritime networks. Check whether a dedicated Saily Cruise plan supports your vessel.

Where connection quality can vary

Saily's performance depends on the local partner network, available coverage, network congestion, device compatibility, building materials, terrain, and movement between mobile towers.

Connection problems are therefore more likely in situations such as:

  • rural or mountainous areas

  • trains and fast-moving vehicles

  • ferries and boats outside coastal coverage

  • crowded tourist locations

  • indoor areas with weak mobile reception

  • locations where the phone repeatedly switches between networks

Individual reports from Japan, India, Africa, or the United States should not be treated as proof that every user will experience the same problem across an entire country or region.

How to reach official Saily support

Saily provides support primarily through digital channels.

In-app live chat

Open the Saily app and navigate to the Help section to start a live chat. This is the main option for real-time technical assistance.

Saily Help Center

The official Help Center contains troubleshooting instructions and an email contact form. Refund requests can also be started through Saily's official refund process.

What to include

To help support investigate the issue, include:

  • your Order ID

  • destination and plan

  • smartphone model

  • screenshots of the selected mobile data line

  • data roaming settings

  • APN configuration

  • the displayed operator name

  • any error message

  • the troubleshooting steps already attempted

In one of my own support cases, Saily added a $3.99 credit to my account after a technical problem. This is a documented personal example, not a guarantee that every support case will result in account credit.

Final verdict: is Saily reliable?

Based on my own tests, Saily has worked well for city travel, navigation, hotspot use, and normal remote-work tasks across multiple destinations.

It is not immune to configuration errors, weak local coverage, congestion, or interruptions while travelling through rural areas, mountains, trains, and maritime routes. No travel eSIM can create coverage where the local partner network has no usable signal.

I use Saily as my main travel data option, but for work-critical trips I still consider a small backup eSIM, local SIM, or reliable Wi-Fi option.

FAQ: Saily eSIM problems and troubleshooting 2026

Why is my Saily eSIM not working after landing?

Common causes include the Saily line not being selected for mobile data, data roaming being disabled, the plan not being active, or the APN not being configured. Confirm that Saily is enabled and selected for mobile data, turn on data roaming for the Saily line, and toggle airplane mode for approximately 15 seconds. If the connection still does not work, check the APN and restart the phone.

Why doesn't my Saily eSIM work on a cruise ship?

Because standard plans need land-based networks. Saily offers separate cruise plans that connect through maritime networks, but they only activate more than 12 nautical miles from shore — not in port. Details in my Saily Cruise eSIM guide.

What are the correct Saily APN settings?

Saily's current official troubleshooting instructions use wbdata in both the APN name and APN fields, with the remaining fields left blank. On Android, first open the Saily app and leave it open for up to five minutes so that it can attempt to configure the APN automatically. Always follow the current setup information shown in your account or Saily's official Help Center.

Does Saily unlimited data have a fair-use limit?

Yes. Unlimited plans can include a daily high-speed allowance followed by reduced-speed data. During my check on 5 August 2026, Saily stated that its standard unlimited plans provided 5 GB of unrestricted-speed data per 24-hour period, followed by data at up to approximately 1 Mbps until the daily allowance reset. These conditions may vary by destination or change over time, so confirm the current fair-use terms before purchasing.

How does the Saily eSIM refund policy work?

A full refund can be requested within the applicable refund period when the eSIM has not been installed or the data plan has not been activated. For an activated plan, a full refund is not guaranteed. Saily may consider a full or partial refund when more than 99% of the data remains unused or when the service could not be used because of a Saily-related quality issue. Eligibility is reviewed individually under Saily's current terms.

How do I contact Saily support if the eSIM has no internet?

Connect to a trusted Wi-Fi network and use the live chat inside the Saily app. You can also open Saily's official Help Center to access troubleshooting articles, the contact form, and the refund-request process. Include your Order ID, device model, destination, screenshots, and the troubleshooting steps already attempted.

Saily vs Airalo: which has fewer connection problems?

Neither provider can guarantee fewer connection problems in every destination. Performance depends on the local partner network, available coverage, congestion, device settings, and the specific plan. Compare the providers by destination, published network information, setup process, support, and included features in my Saily vs Airalo comparison.

Where can I find current Saily offer details?

Saily offers and discount codes can change by plan, region, and campaign. I track current verified offer details, regional deals, and tested promo codes in my Saily Coupon and Discount Guide.

Expert advice: before you travel, always screenshot your Order ID and the APN settings from the app. If you land without a connection, you'll have all the info you need to fix it offline.
