Most Saily Ultra reviews explain the features. This review is based on real-world testing: 59 GB of data used in Montpellier, four devices connected by hotspot, live online teaching with up to 40 students, and personal lounge access tests at both Zurich and Lisbon airports.
I also explain how Saily Ultra differs from standard Saily plans and when a dedicated unlimited-data alternative may be more suitable.

For US Travelers Using Saily Ultra in Europe
Saily Ultra may be useful for US travelers who want one data subscription for a multi-country European trip instead of relying on their domestic carrier's roaming option.
A common setup is to keep the US SIM active for calls, messages and authentication codes while selecting Saily as the phone's mobile data line. However, roaming settings must be configured carefully because the primary SIM may still generate roaming charges if it is allowed to use mobile data abroad.
The financial advantage depends on the traveler's existing US plan, trip duration and current Ultra price. Compare the total cost with the roaming terms of your own carrier before subscribing.
NordVPN may also be useful for secure browsing and services that require a US IP address, although access to individual banking, media or streaming services cannot be guaranteed.

Before a flight to Lisbon, I redeemed one of my Saily Ultra lounge passes at Zurich Airport. The pass was accepted through the lounge access process without an issue during my visit.
Inside the lounge, I used the available WiFi for remote work. Because this was the lounge's WiFi network, its performance should not be interpreted as a Saily mobile data test. I activated NordVPN separately while using the public network.
The lounge provided seating, food and drinks, and it gave me a suitable place to work before boarding. This was a successful personal redemption test, but lounge availability and access conditions may change. Check the current options in the Saily app before traveling.

Lounge tested: ANA Lounge, Terminal 1
Result: Access was successfully redeemed during my visit
I tested a second lounge redemption at the ANA Lounge in Terminal 1 at Lisbon Airport. The redemption itself worked, although there was a short wait before entry because the lounge was busy.
Compared with my experience at Zurich Airport, the Lisbon lounge felt more crowded. Once inside, however, I found seating and a solid selection of food and drinks, including a glass of Portuguese sparkling wine.
This test confirms that my lounge benefit could be redeemed at Lisbon Airport at the time of my visit. It does not guarantee future access, because participating lounges, capacity restrictions and redemption conditions may change.

Fast-Track Access
Saily Ultra may include fast-track access at selected airports, depending on the current subscription tier and participating locations.
I did not personally test the fast-track service for this review. The information in this section is therefore based on Saily's product documentation rather than my own airport experience.

The Montpellier Mobile Data Test

This section covers mobile data delivered through the Saily connection. It does not include performance measured on café, hotel or airport WiFi unless explicitly stated.
Across the full month, I recorded 59 GB of mobile data use through Saily Ultra. The speed measurements below were recorded while high-speed data was still available. After the included high-speed allowance was used, the connection continued under the plan's reduced-speed policy.

NordVPN in My Remote Work Setup
NordVPN was one of the more useful parts of the bundle in my own workflow.
When working outside Switzerland, I sometimes need a Swiss IP address for institutional platforms and work-related services. During selected sessions, I activated NordVPN and connected to a Swiss server before starting my online teaching or agency work.
I also used NordVPN while connected to airport lounge WiFi. This was a separate VPN-over-WiFi test and should not be confused with Saily mobile network performance.
In my tests, the VPN connection remained stable during normal browsing, remote work and selected live teaching sessions. This is a personal test result, not a guarantee that every platform, network or streaming service will work in every location.
NordVPN must be installed, activated and connected correctly. The presence of a VPN benefit does not mean every public network connection is automatically protected.

Saily Ultra uses Saily's international eSIM infrastructure and connects through local partner networks. Actual performance therefore depends on the country, local carrier, device, network congestion and exact location.
My own Ultra mobile data test in this review was conducted in France. Other country experiences mentioned elsewhere on TechNovice may involve standard Saily plans rather than the Ultra subscription and should not automatically be treated as Ultra-specific tests.

In my case, the Ultra bundle was useful because I actively used mobile data, lounge access and NordVPN. However, travelers who regularly consume large amounts of data for video calls, uploads or hotspot use should compare the current high-speed allowance and throttling policy carefully.
