IM Secure may not able to completely secure your IM (well, nothing can) , but at least it can help you to avoid most of the attacks. One drawback of IM Secure is that, it is not compatible with a few security application such as NOD32 (i was unsuccessful in finding a reliable source to give me the list of application that IM Secure ain't compatible with) Anyway, it is a great free application from Zonelabs and i really do encourage you to download it, will surely be a valuable addition to you computer's defense system.
